STEAM Delivered Makes Learning Fun & Exciting for South Jersey Kids!
We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.
If your kids are anything like mine, they are SO over distance learning. Not gonna lie, I’m over it, too. Like so many kids, my boys do well with hands-on learning, so, when I found out about locally-owned STEAM Delivered, I knew I had to learn all about it! Created by Christine Blizzard-Wrobel, a STEM teacher in Voorhees and one of South Jersey Magazine’s Inspiring Educators, STEAM Delivered is a kid’s STEAM subscription that, starting June 22, can be delivered to Cherry Hill, Voorhees, Gibbsboro, Haddonfield, Haddon Heights, and Haddon Township. (Update! STEAM Delivered can now be delivered nationwide!! Just visit their page for info!)Wait, what? I may have gotten a little ahead of myself. Let’s clarify a few things.
What is STEAM?
I’m not talking about the steam coming out of your pots and pans while cooking. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Basically, STEAM activities touch on a variety of aspects and are usually pretty hands on and interactive. The cause and effect that result from being curious and creative can lead to kids learning valuable lessons and concepts without even realizing they’re learning. Sweet, right? That’s my kind of learning!
What is STEAM Delivered?
With the STEAM Delivered subscription, you have the option of choosing the length of the subscription as well as the age-level. Currently, two kits are available: prek – 1st grade and 2nd – 5th grade. Each week of your 3, 5, or 10 week subscription, your child(ren) will get an age-appropriate STEAM activity that’ll keep them occupied and learning. Have more than one child and want them to have their own STEAM kits? No prob! STEAM Delivered has a sibling discount available making this subscription super family-friendly. Not only does your subscription come with a starter kit, but that starter kit comes personalized! As a mama of children that are VERY confident in their choice of favorite colors, I totally appreciate the extra effort STEAM Delivered put into personalizing my boy’s kits with their favorite colors. It’s the little things, right?
As previously mentioned, STEAM Delivered is currently available for delivery in Cherry Hill, Voorhees, Gibbsboro, Haddonfield, Haddon Heights, and Haddon Township, but…BUT…if you are in another area of South Jersey and would like to sign up for the subscription, it certainly couldn’t hurt to contact STEAM Delivered and ask! (as noted in above update, STEAM Delivered is now available nationwide!)
Our Steam Delivered Experience
We received our Starter Kits and first activity over the weekend and, let me tell you, the boys really enjoyed it! They knew they were getting the kits, but didn’t know they would be personalized. Seeing their names on their kits, in their favorite colors, made their introduction to STEAM Delivered a positive and exciting experience.
After we went through the supplies in the starter kits (check out the Facebook video to see!), I got them started on their first challenge. They had a bag of supplies and were given the option to build a structure that was tall or a structure that was strong. They both chose to build strong structures. They got started by sketching out their ideas in the provided sketchbook (Little Dude calls it his “journal” – so cute!) and then spent no less than an hour constructing their structures. Talk about a parenting win! I was able to have about an hour of peace while the kids were busy having so much fun they didn’t even realize they were learning. Needless to say, we can’t wait to get our next STEAM Delivered challenge.
