Where are you from?
Originally from Philadelphia, but living in Cherry Hill, NJ
What’s the name of your business and what does your business offer?
Bling It On with Christa (Premier Designs High Fashion Jewelry). I offer style workshops to help ladies minimize their wardrobe and maximize their versatility. My goal is to make getting dressed less stressful and help boost confidence. I also offer fundraising opportunities and mentoring to those that want to start their own flexible business with Premier Designs.
How long have you been in business?
8 years. February 28, 2011 ?
How did you get involved with your business?
I started when I was teaching 8th grade special education and coaching a high school varsity cheerleading team. I was invited to attend my sister-in-law’s Premier Designs party and showed up in my coaching sweatshirt and yoga pants. My idea of style then was a pair of stud earrings that I pretty much kept in every day. When I went, I fell in love with the versatility of the jewelry, and when I heard the rep made 50%…. my ears definitely perked up!!! I wasn’t looking for another job, but thought would be a great way to fundraise for my cheerleaders. It helped to raise thousands for them, and helped me personally to pay off my car and debt. When I started, I never gave myself a timeline of how long I would do Premier, but loved it so much I wished I could do it full time. Well, 2 and a half years in my husband and I got pregnant with twins. We struggled for years with infertility, and I truly believe God brought me Premier before the twins to align our future. Now, because of Premier, I’m a stay at home mom and work around my 6 year old twins and our busy schedule. I absolutely love that Premier has helped our family in so many ways, including our most recent trip to Disney and the countless supportive women I’ve met and grown with.
What do you enjoy about your business?
There’s a few favorite reasons I especially enjoy my Premier business: First, it’s completely flexible around my kids and my family’s schedule. I love being my own boss and making my schedule work around our life and not the other way around. Next, I absolutely love helping ladies feel great. It’s amazing when you can literally help ladies shine on the inside and out. Over the years of styling women, I’ve gained their trust and learned their personal styles, which has been so fun when they go to events or have special occasions and ask me for my opinion on an outfit. A lot of those women have also been hostesses for me, so the jewelry they’ve earned has been free. I’m grateful that I can help them with their style wishes/needs and they help me share my business as with their friends. Lastly, I love mentoring and training women with their own business. I guess it’s the teacher in me, but even though this is our own business, I love to share with other Premier Designs jewelers and help motivate one another. It’s great to have women support and love on each other.
What is the most challenging part of your business?
Lately, my biggest challenge is being able to work more of my business in person with ladies. My husband’s job requires lots of travel, so I don’t get to show the jewelry in person as often as I like. However, I’m thankful for social media channels that make it easier to keep sharing. When the babies were born and he started traveling, I always had one of the twins on my lap as I was doing a Facebook party. Moms like me, that enjoy staying home, find ways to get creative and make it work! Another challenge is the comparison struggle ladies put in their head. I have many friends that I think would ROCK their own Premier business, but I hear them say things like, “I couldn’t do this as good as you.” I wish ladies would realize having your own business that’s flexible like Premier means you can work it however and whenever you like. I’ve learned that comparison is all in our heads and we need to stay in our own lane. So I struggle showing ladies that their potential is much larger than they believe.
How do you balance work and family time?
In my planner, I schedule the kids activities and our family events all first. Then, I fill in when I can work my business outside of the house for style workshops, trainings, or other types of events. When the twins were little, we had Twinkie Tuesdays or Family Fridays just to have outings where my focus was all on them. Now that they are in school, we don’t always have full days during the week, but I make sure to block time off just to unplug and spend with them. When I’m at family events and parties, my phone is only in my hand to snap pics of them. I’m slightly obsessed with my kids ? Thankfully, because of Premier, we have also taken many family trips and road trips, so that definitely has added lots of fun adventures to our family bucket list.
Where do you see yourself, with your business, in 5 years?
In five years, I hope to have more ladies that I’ve shared the blessings and potentials of Premier with. Whether that means I’ve been welcomed into their home for them to host an event, helped them as a bride to style their wedding events and bridal party, or helped them thrive in their own business, I would like to keep expanding to all aspects. When I meet ladies and ask them “Have you ever heard of Premier Designs?”, many tell me no and that completely shocks me! Premier has been around since 1985 and is based out of Texas, so my goal is to keep expanding and sharing Premier with as many as I can.
What makes you stand out from others in your line of work?
I like to spoil others with fun and free jewelry! I try my best to bring a lot of different types of events to my customers. I do various Facebook live events, Review Crews, Unboxing reveals, Style Steals and Deals, Blingo, and giveaways online and in person. I also like to share as many style tips and solutions I can to really be an asset for women. With showing lots of versatility, it’s my way of helping ladies save money and remind them their wardrobe doesn’t need to break their bank!! I often tell people, “Jewelry is my product, but style is my service.” I share a Style 123 recipe that ladies tell me they love to follow when they are getting dressed. I don’t have a fashion degree, but I am a mom that likes to keep it real and sometimes that’s better than somewhat far-fetched runway fashion. Lastly, I like to spoil my Gem Members who are in a VIP membership with me… I sometimes refer to it as my GLAMAZON! I often mail them coupons or gift cards to spoil them with some added perks. Many of my customers know that I’ve prayed for them in various life situations. If I can make people smile, then I know I’m doing my job!
What do you like to do for fun?
I’m very family oriented. Beyond my Premier customers and family, I love to be the planner of events and entertain. So it’s common that we have friends and family over our house for all reasons big and small. I love the beach and everything summer brings with it. Let’s hope, with continued success in Premier, one day we’ll have a beach house of our own. We love road tripping and recently have gotten the twins to start hiking with us. We make it a goal to find new cities and new fun adventures with every stop.
Anything else we should know?
Everyone in my Bling It On with Christa group, and Instagram, knows I love all things Justin Timberlake. So if you follow me, expect to see JT lyrics, GIFs, and pics. ?
