You guys know how much I love the Garden State Discovery Museum in Cherry Hill, NJ, right? The Discovery Museum opened up when I was 10 years old (quick, do the math and you’ll find out how old I am! lol) and, while I was on my way to being a teenager (was the word “tween” even around in 1994? I don’t think so.), I still wanted to go to the museum because all of the pretend play areas and activities looked like so much fun! Well, even though 25 years have passed since their opening, The Garden State Discovery Museum is still a place I love to go but, now, I get to take my two boys with me. We have passes so we can go and play in their exhibits and, just this past February, we celebrated my son’s 5th birthday (see this article for more details: Celebrating Birthdays with the Garden State Discovery Museum in Cherry Hill, NJ ) there. We all got to enjoy and insanely fun slime-making birthday party in the newly renovated party rooms at the Garden State Discovery Museum. Well, now there are even more awesome birthday party themes and upgrades that are SURE to make South Jersey kids and parents thrilled! Let’s check out what’s new at the Garden State Discovery Museum!
Renovated Party Rooms
The Garden State Discovery Museum partnered with their next door neighbor, Avalon Flooring, for the renovation. One of 15 employee-owned showrooms located throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, the Cherry Hill Avalon Flooring features a variety of flooring, including tile, carpet and rugs and even has window treatments. The Cherry Hill location is one of my favorites because it currently has a large close-out room towards the back of the store. If you’re ever working on a smaller project, I totally recommend checking this close-out room. We’ve purchased quite a few tiles for bathroom flooring and backsplashes at a fraction of the price we’d pay at another store! Avalon Flooring worked with the Garden State Discovery Museum to re-floor all 5 party rooms and have even provided various educational exhibits in them! These new floors are super tough and, around the Garden State Discovery Museum, are described as being “glitter proof!” Pretty cool, right? When I think of super-tough floors, I used to think of very industrial-looking flooring – something where functionality was taken into consideration more than style. This is certainly not the case with the new floors at the Garden State Discovery Museum – they are gorgeous and many look like wood flooring. Seriously, they are so pretty! All of the rooms also got fresh coats of paint and are ready for lots of fun to be had!
NEW Party Themes
With all the new party themes available at the Garden State Discovery Museum, you definitely won’t have to worry about your party guests not enjoying themselves! Currently priced starting at $21.95 per child, themed birthday parties at the Garden State Discovery Museum include 1.5 hours of party room use, 1.5 hours of hands-on-fun enjoying the museum exhibits, a party host to assist, one free adult per attending child, free admission for 2 parents and 4 grandparents of the birthday child, and, if your child registers at their Discovermore Store, they’ll receive a free gift. The Garden State Discovery Museum does not provide paper goods, but they do provide crayons and cover the party tables with white paper so that the children can create works of art throughout the party (I absolutely LOVE this!). As for the themes…prepare to be amazed!
Art Party allows children to be creative by making homemade moldable dough and other seasonal crafts!
Bubble Party allows children to learn about and experience the science behind bubbles. They’ll also make their own bubble wand! (Check out my sweet bubble wand!)
Construction Party allows children to experience building by creating a masterpiece with hammers, glue, and nails. This theme is recommended for ages 5 and up.
Dino Party lets children hunt for dinosaur bones, create fossil imprints, and even witness an eruption volcano!
Music Party allows children to make their own instrument (I made a kazoo!) and play them, too!
Pirate Party lets kids customize their own pirate hat and dig for treasure!
Princess Party allows children to decorate their own crown and wand with the Garden State Discovery Museum’s resident princess!
Slime Party lets kids learn the science behind making slime and then make slime personalized with a variety of glitters, dyes, and more!
Spectacular Science Party lets children experience some experiment demonstrations and make their own gak!
The Stuffin’ Party allows children to stuff their own 12″-15″ stuffed animal to bring home!
